KEY TAKEAWAYS
The carbon footprint falls 14.5% from 2020 to 2024.
Heat production rises alongside changes in the dominant energy source.
Regional differences remain substantial.
Methodology & sources
Scope: metropolitan France including Corsica. Statistical unit: network × year. CO₂ analysis mainly covers 2020 to 2024, the period for which this indicator is sufficiently available for the Explorer. Regional CO₂ content is production weighted. The constant panel of 584 networks covers 2018 to 2024 and documents continuity of observation over a longer period. Statistically confidential values remain missing and are never replaced by zero. Time comparisons are descriptive and do not establish causality by themselves.
